Driven, passionate and familial. That's Fenixco in three words. It sounds logical too. With over three generations of building experience in their genes, Henry, Marie-France and Hélène Bostoen feel like a fish in water in project development and architecture, as they were spoonfed with it.
Already fifteen years ago, Henry made the conscious decision to remove grey areas in the city and to replace them with new, progressive neighbourhoods. "In the early days, we got advice from architects. Now they're asking our advice. Because they know we're passionate about beauty and aesthetics. And because they know that we are constantly exploring new insights and innovating techniques."
The motivation for Henry, Marie-France and Hélène is straightforward: creating an aesthetic added value in the city by buildings that are beautiful, attractive, safe and inviting. "Tearing down something ugly, that's a damn lot of fun." Henry says with a smile. "Especially since we know what kind of beautiful creations can replace them. In this respect, we will only be fully satisfied within 30 years, when we see our signature in a lot of buildings and neighbourhoods. And when we can see nicely maintained flowers and plants on the terraces. Then we know for sure that the people who live there are happy." Elegant details, high-quality architecture, happy people: these are the connecting features in all Fenixco projects.
Being selective is one way to ensure high quality. Having a personal approach and assistance is another way. "That one extra effort, that extra human gesture, that's what makes us different from others and stand out from the crowd", Hélène knows. For example, by enabling to make a last-minute adjustment to the plans. Or by treating residents to a boat trip or food truck. "These are not miracles, but... it's our way of being easily accessible. To form a sounding board and to bring people together. We want to be proud of what we achieve. And that can only be accomplished with beautiful architecture and satisfied customers."
Needless to say, every project has to meet a lot of criteria. An excellent accessibility in the heart of the city, for example. But above all, there is one surprising standard: every project is always unique. "In every new development, we introduce new technology that increases the quality and comfort." Smart letterboxes or car lifts, for example. Or innovative forms of mobility. "The city is evolving, thus technology is evolving. As a promoter, we want to be more than keeping up with our times. We want to be a leader in comfort and quality." That's also one of the reasons to choose a different architect time and again. In doing so, new insights are flowing in and new ideas are being cross-fertilized.
Fenixco is a family business, throughout. Projects are financed or guaranteed with their own means and with Henry, Marie-France and Hélène, brother and sisters together are in charge. Henry is the developer. Hélène manages the internal organisation and safeguards the future strategy. Marie-France is the invisible energy that makes everything seemingly effortless. "As a family, we have three advantages: we trust each other one hundred percent, we don't have hard feelings after a discussion and we focus on the long-term. Whatever way you turn it: in real estate, that's an essence. Both for us as developers, as for our customers."
